Why did mammoths become extinct?
Why did pond turtles survive?
Myself and Dr. Bakker

Dr. Bakker’s presentation on Mass Extinctions

Ever wonder why large animals such as the dinosaurs and wooly mammoths became extinct while small animals like tiny prehistoric mammals and pond turtles survived?

Entrance to Dig Site

Entering the building enclosed site, a life size Columbian mammoth mural awaits to greet you. The edifice built around the site is air conditioned at a constant temperature all year long. It is also impermeable, thanks to the construction of the building, to floods that could cause  potential destruction to the bones.

Climate controlled to preserve the bones in the actual site!

A bull mammoth skeleton was discovered with a juvenile of its own species along with a saber toothed cat tooth and prehistoric camel bones.

Another mural is displayed reconstructing the death scene of the deceased mammals found at the site.
